The challenge
The new office had to work where the old Wi-Fi had failed
The office promotes trade, investment and business ties between Australia and Japan. Poor Wi-Fi performance had been a persistent issue at the previous site, and the move to central Tokyo was the chance to fix it. The client wanted a reliable, functional workplace with flexible meeting spaces, all within a tightly controlled budget.
Key challenges
- Deliver reliable Wi-Fi after long-standing coverage issues at the previous office
- Design a cost-effective AV system blending new hardware with reused equipment
- Coordinate with construction and IT vendors under a compressed relocation timeline
- Keep new systems easy to manage and valuable over the long term
Our role
Wi-Fi planned with Ekahau and verified after installation
Access points were placed from a site assessment
mtc carried out a site assessment and designed the access point layout in Ekahau, using predictive planning. After installation the team ran a second Ekahau survey to verify coverage, then confirmed the results with real-world testing. The target was full coverage and stable connectivity across the whole office, with no repeat of the old problems.
The network was built with the client IT network provider
Working closely with the client IT network provider, mtc helped design a resilient, high-performance network. The team assisted with configuration and troubleshooting to optimise performance and remove interference and coverage gaps, and kept coordination smooth between all parties throughout the project.
Legacy displays were reused where they were fit for purpose
mtc designed AV for several meeting spaces using a hybrid approach. Displays and AV hardware from the previous office were reused where suitable, and new equipment was supplied to meet current needs.
Installation and user training were done on site
mtc handled on-site installation and configuration of the AV systems, then trained users so that staff could move into the new environment with confidence.
