Helping You Achieve New Milestones

IT Infrastructure in Japan

Passing inspection is not the same as working on day one

mtc plans, designs and delivers IT infrastructure for international companies with offices in Japan. Our experienced IT staff work directly with your team to build environments that meet both global standards and local site conditions, and we help you understand how power, cooling, cabling and wireless decisions affect long-term performance and support.

Networks and server rooms you can rely on

Power and cooling planning

Every office project needs more than racks and switches. We provide full support for power load and heat load planning so your server room and equipment spaces can operate safely and reliably. We help you select and configure UPS systems, PDUs and ATS units that match expected usage and redundancy requirements, minimising downtime risk and protecting your equipment investment.

Wireless networks done right

Poor Wi-Fi coverage is one of the most common user complaints in modern offices. We address it at the planning stage, using Ekahau survey tools to model and validate coverage before deployment. This lets us identify interference issues, adjust access point placement and deliver a high-quality wireless experience from day one.

Equipment prepared before it reaches site

Our team manages every stage of equipment readiness. We kit and rack-mount gear, apply labelling and patching, power systems up, run firmware updates and pre-load configurations before anything arrives on site. This reduces on-site risk, shortens installation time and means your equipment arrives tested and production-ready.

In-house technical delivery

mtc performs the core IT work in-house rather than relying heavily on subcontractors. Our engineers have years of hands-on experience with enterprise network infrastructure, structured cabling and data centre power systems. The result is clearer communication, consistent quality and a single accountable partner from design through to support.

Support after handover

Headcounts grow, standards are revised and new systems arrive needing power, cooling and ports. We size racks, power, cooling, switching and wireless with room to grow, and we document the network so that the next change is a planned one. After handover, our bilingual team provides monitoring, periodic audits and support for expansion.

Where it goes wrong, and what it costs

Most infrastructure is checked against a punch list. How the space will be used is rarely part of the check. A network can be fully installed, fully signed off, and still fail in the first week.

Cabling

Every port labelled and patched, but nobody modelled forty people on video calls at once.

Wireless

Access points placed from a floor plan. Dead zones only appear once the desks are occupied.

Power and cooling

Specified for the rack list, with no allowance for everything running at once in a Tokyo summer.

All of it passes a basic inspection. None of it surfaces until your team is in the room, and by then fixing it means opening finished walls and ceilings.

What it costs when nobody catches it early

  • Dead wireless zones become a steady stream of help desk tickets in the first week.
  • The server room runs hot under real load, putting hardware and uptime at risk.
  • Fixes mean reopening finished ceilings and walls after the office is already occupied.

The engineering behind the infrastructure

Power, cooling and carrier lead times decide what is possible in a building. We work them out before the lease is signed wherever we can.

  • Capacity and layout design. Rack elevations, power and cooling loads, containment routes and server room layout, calculated from the floor plan.
  • Network design. Addressing, VLANs, wireless coverage modelling and uplink capacity designed against your global standards and the conditions on site.
  • Landlord contractor coordination. Dedicated circuits, UPS positions, server room cooling, floor penetrations and fire alarm interfaces specified by us and coordinated in Japanese. How work is divided in a Japanese building.
  • Carrier and building coordination. Circuit orders, building entry points, riser access and the lead times attached to them, tracked from our side.
  • Documentation at handover. As-built diagrams, patching schedules, address records and configuration backups handed over at completion.
  • Fire and life safety. Penetrations between floors and fire compartments are fire-stopped to the building’s standard, and server room suppression has to match what the fire service has approved.

Our engineers hold current certifications from Cisco, Microsoft and Netgear, alongside the structured cabling certifications the physical layer needs.

Design – Build – Support

How this service runs from the first site visit to ongoing support.

Design

We plan power, cooling and network layouts around your global standards and local site conditions, sizing UPS, PDU and ATS equipment to expected load and redundancy, and modelling Wi-Fi coverage with Ekahau before deployment.

Build

Our in-house engineers kit, rack-mount, label, patch and configure equipment before it reaches site, then install it tested and production-ready, reducing on-site risk and shortening installation time.

Support

After handover, our bilingual technical team provides support and managed services, including ongoing monitoring, periodic audits and help with future expansion, so your infrastructure stays reliable as your business in Japan evolves.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. We design environments that follow your organisation’s global standards while taking account of local site conditions in Japan. Our IT staff work directly with your head office or regional team to agree requirements early, so the finished infrastructure fits your corporate model and the realities of the building.

Planning coverage in advance helps avoid the dead spots and interference that commonly lead to user complaints. We use Ekahau survey tools to model and validate coverage before deployment, which lets us adjust access point placement and address interference during planning rather than after staff have moved in.

Yes. Where it suits the project, we kit and rack-mount gear, apply labelling and patching, power it up, update firmware and pre-load configurations before delivery. Equipment then arrives tested and ready for production, which reduces risk and time on site, particularly in buildings with limited access windows.

Yes. After handover we offer ongoing support and managed services, including monitoring, periodic audits and help planning future expansion. Our bilingual technical team is based in Japan and already knows your environment, so issues and changes can be handled with less time spent on explanation and handover.
