Helping You Achieve New Milestones

Physical Security Systems in Japan

Your access control is only half the system. The building owns the other half

mtc designs and installs physical security systems for international companies with offices in Japan, from access control and CCTV to biometrics and visitor management. Every system is built to integrate with your IT and facility infrastructure while meeting global standards and local Japanese building codes, giving you a workplace that balances safety, compliance and usability.

Access control and biometrics

We deploy enterprise-class access control from vendors such as LenelS2, Brivo and Honeywell, delivering systems that are scalable, reliable and aligned with your company’s security policies. Card readers, security gates, intercoms and biometric devices are integrated so people move through your facilities easily while entry stays controlled.

Where higher levels of security are required, we implement biometric readers including fingerprint, facial recognition and palm scanners. Integrated with your access control platform, they strengthen identity verification and reduce reliance on physical cards or PIN codes that can be lost or shared.

CCTV and video surveillance

mtc designs and installs CCTV systems tailored to your business, from compact office deployments to large-scale surveillance on Avigilon and other enterprise platforms. We make sure coverage, image quality and recording policies meet both regulatory requirements and your internal security standards. Installation is discreet and professional, and every system is fully documented for ongoing management.

Visitor and guest management

Security begins at the front desk. mtc deploys guest management systems that integrate with your access control and IT environment. Visitors can be pre-registered, issued credentials and tracked during their stay, helping you maintain compliance and visibility without adding friction for your reception staff or your guests.

One integrated security infrastructure

We coordinate the cabling, racks and network integration so your security systems fit cleanly into your wider technology environment. Because our in-house team manages both design and installation, access control, CCTV, biometrics and visitor management work together as a unified solution rather than a set of separate products.

When the office changes, the system can too

Headcounts change, floors are added and security policies are revised. We choose platforms that can take more doors, cameras and sites without being replaced, leave capacity in controllers and cabling, and keep the records current. After installation, our support team handles firmware updates, camera audits and expansions.

Where it goes wrong, and what it costs

In a multi-tenant Tokyo building the landlord controls the entrance, the lifts and the lobby. You control your floor. Most global security vendors design for one side of that line.

The building

Lobby gates, lift access and the landlord’s own pass and visitor process. Set by the landlord, not by you.

The handoff

A visitor admitted in the lobby still has to be recognised, or stopped, at your floor. Most installations never connect this step.

Your floor

Access control, cameras and visitor management inside your lease line. Yours, but only useful if it talks to the building’s side.

When the handoff is not designed deliberately you get duplicate passes, visitors who reach your floor with no record of who admitted them, or a fire code conflict because nobody checked whether your access control is allowed to lock a door the building’s life safety system needs open.

What it costs when nobody owns the handoff

  • Changes the security vendor makes on site contradict the evacuation plan the fire service has already approved, and the office can be stopped from operating until it is put back.
  • The building owner refuses your global standard readers and controllers, because they do not carry the Japanese electrical safety and radio certification the building requires.
  • Visitor handling is designed around a self-service kiosk, when guests here expect to be met and escorted, so reception improvises and the first thing a client sees is a queue.
  • Cameras are aimed without checking what else is in frame: a shared corridor, a neighbouring tenant’s door or the windows of the building opposite. Japanese courts treat that as an invasion of privacy and of the right of portrait, and the remedy is usually removal and damages.

The engineering behind the security systems

Access control touches life safety, building rules and personal data. All three are settled at design stage.

  • Door schedule and hardware design. Every door assessed for reader type, lock type, power, egress and fail-safe or fail-secure behaviour, agreed with the architect and the building.
  • Life safety and building rules. Fire alarm interfacing and egress requirements confirmed with the building and the relevant authority before installation.
  • Landlord contractor coordination. Door power, conduit, back boxes and fire alarm interfaces specified by us and installed by the building’s contractor under our supervision. How work is divided in a Japanese building.
  • Integration design. How access control, cameras, intercoms, visitor management and your IT systems work together, designed up front.
  • Privacy and records. Camera coverage, retention periods and access rights documented so the system matches your policy and Japanese personal information rules.
  • Fire and life safety. Locked doors, magnetic locks and fail-safe behaviour have to match the evacuation plan the fire service approved. We confirm that before a single reader is specified.

Our engineers hold current Cisco and Microsoft certifications, because an integrated security system runs on the network and ties into your identity platform.

Design – Build – Support

How this service runs from the first site visit to ongoing support.

Design

We assess your site, security policies and IT environment, then specify access control, CCTV, biometric and visitor systems that meet global standards and local Japanese building codes while balancing safety, compliance and usability.

Build

Our in-house team installs card readers, gates, intercoms, cameras and biometric devices, and coordinates the cabling, racks and network integration. Installation is discreet and professional, and every system is fully documented for ongoing management.

Support

After handover, our support team provides maintenance and managed services, including firmware updates, camera audits and system expansions, helping you adapt your security as requirements change and keep getting value from your investment.

Frequently asked questions

In many cases, yes. We work with enterprise platforms such as LenelS2, Brivo and Honeywell. We review your existing platform and security policies, then design the Japan office deployment so it aligns with your global standards while meeting local building code requirements. Where integration is not practical, we explain the options before any work begins.

It depends on the areas you are protecting and your company’s security policies. Card readers suit most general office entry points, while biometric readers such as fingerprint, facial recognition or palm scanners are useful where higher levels of security are required. We can combine both on the same access control platform, so you apply stronger verification only where it is needed.

We agree camera coverage, image quality and recording policies with you during design, so they meet regulatory requirements as well as your internal security standards. Cameras are placed to cover what matters without capturing more than necessary, and every system is documented so your team knows how footage is recorded, stored and managed over time.

Yes. We design access control and CCTV on scalable enterprise platforms, and our support team handles system expansions as part of ongoing maintenance and managed services. Whether you are adding doors, cameras, floors or a new site, we extend the existing system so it continues to work as one unified solution with your IT and visitor management.
