The brief

The relocation took place while the client was going through global restructuring. Technology standards were still evolving, input came from US, Asia-Pacific and EMEA teams, and many stakeholders were based in North America. mtc had to turn conflicting international requirements into a single Japan-specific plan while coordinating local Japanese vendors and contractors.

What we did

Server room and building infrastructure

Early in the project, mtc worked with the building’s base design team to customise the server room layout, covering cooling capacity, dedicated power distribution, cable containment, equipment rack planning, redundancy and monitoring. Coordinating with the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) teams avoided common design conflicts and gave the new office a cleaner, more reliable infrastructure backbone. mtc also coordinated security system enhancements for building access and internal zones.

Network and telecommunications

mtc installed CAT6A cabling across two floors, redundant core switches and patching, secure wireless coverage throughout the office, and racks, PDUs and UPS systems, with cable labelling and documentation in English and Japanese. The team helped the client identify suitable ISPs, obtain competitive quotes, translate service documents and manage installation and activation of multiple redundant lines, plus analogue telephone lines that kept legacy systems working during the transition.

AV for collaboration and hybrid work

mtc designed and delivered AV for small and medium-sized video conferencing rooms, a flexible multi-purpose event space, and executive meeting areas with automation and simplified controls. Every room has a unified, custom-branded bilingual interface, integration with the client’s preferred video conferencing platforms, and microphones, speakers and displays matched to room acoustics. Rooms are walk-in ready, reducing dependency on IT support for daily use by teams working across departments and regions.

One technology standard for Japan

Acting as lead consultant and integrator for the full technology stack, mtc helped the client build a consistent Japan-specific technology standard from US, Asia-Pacific and EMEA inputs. With restructuring underway, mtc reconciled conflicting requirements into one cohesive deployment plan, adapted schedules and communications for stakeholders in North America, and provided post-installation support and documentation.
