The challenge
The technology had to fit a building already under construction
The new headquarters combined engineering and administrative functions with a satellite manufacturing cleanroom, and the teams there collaborated both locally and globally. mtc was asked to design, coordinate and deliver a complete suite of workplace technology on a compressed schedule.
Key challenges
- Assess IT and AV requirements quickly and identify the gaps
- Integrate systems without affecting the construction schedule
- Integrate cleanroom IT securely with general office systems
- Work in English with stakeholders in Japan, Singapore, the US and Europe
- Work in Japanese with the construction and local implementation teams
Our role
mtc delivered a fully operational workplace across multiple technology disciplines
Cleanroom requirements shaped the network design
Working closely with the international IT team at the client, mtc implemented a reliable, scalable network across multiple floors: server room design, structured cabling, hardware specification and rack deployment. Special care went into the cleanroom IT requirements, so general office systems and the satellite production environment integrate securely.
Meeting rooms and the all-hands space follow the global framework
mtc installed video conferencing and content sharing in meeting rooms, and AV for an all-hands space used for company events and internal briefings. Controls suit non-technical users. All systems follow the client global IT and AV framework, with customised layouts and bilingual interfaces for daily operations in Japan.
Security was coordinated with the building and the global compliance team
mtc delivered access control for secure zones, CCTV coverage and integration with the overall building security plan. That took coordination between building management, general contractors and the global compliance team at the client, for regulatory alignment and operational safety across both general office and cleanroom zones.
Bilingual coordination linked the global team and the Japan-based trades
mtc acted as bilingual project coordinator, facilitating daily communication between the global team at the client and Japan-based trades, designers and vendors. mtc also supported lifecycle maintenance planning, including equipment documentation, firmware management and replacement planning.
